Ravensburger Game # 21 011 4
© 1991 by Otto Maier Verlag Ravensburg
A dice game of suspense for 2 to 6 players, ages 6 to 12 years
Author: R. P. Piecha
Illustrations: K. Hermann
Translation: D. U. Thibault
Contents: 1 game board
24 cards
6 pawns
1 die
Object of the Game
Each player is trying to spend as much time as possible in the amusement park. The player wholl take longest to go through the attractions and leaves last wins.
Setup
The game board should be placed so as to be visible to all players. Each one chooses a colored pawn and places it, hollow end down, on the entry square (the one marked by an arrow).
Sort the cards by the color and number of the balloons on their backs. Shuffle each deck and put it on the corresponding areas on the board. All the cards with a red balloon on their back go on the red balloon area, and so on.
All players roll the die. Whoever rolls lowest (re-roll ties) will start.
The Rules
Play passes from player to player in clockwise order.
On your turn, you either roll a die and advance your pawn the indicated number of squares, or, if you have cards in your hand, you may play one instead. If you land on a square that is marked with a balloon, pick up a card from the corresponding deck.
If that particular deck is exhausted, too bad! The blue squares do not give you a draw at all. The square marked with all four colors and numbers allows you to draw from the deck of your choice.
For example, if a player lands on a yellow square marked with a "1", he draws a card from the yellow "1" deck.
The cards are very important to the play of the game, because they can be used to slow down your progress through the amusement park.
At the games outset, the best thing to do is to gather a few cards so as to build up options. Keep them hidden from the other players.
Card Symbols
The symbols on the cards have the following meanings:
|
-5 |
You back up 10 squares. |
|
-10 |
You back up 10 squares. |
|
(loop)
|
Your die roll counts backward. First you play the card, then you roll the die and lastly you back up the indicated number of squares. |
|
(stop)
|
Cancels your die roll. This card is played after rolling the die, when you roll a high number, for instance. You stay in place instead of advancing. |
|
(die) |
When you play this card, all of the other players must each roll a die and advance the indicated number of squares. |
When you back up, you may not back up any further than the amusement parks entrance square. Neither do you draw a card for the square you land on. This also applies if you stay in place.
Played cards are put aside; they are not shuffled back into the decks.
If youre out of cards, you must roll the die and advance.
