| | Star Trek (2009)--What did you think? | | I saw Star Trek last weekend and really liked it. I was not a fan of Star Trek before I saw the film, but its got me watching the old tv series. My brother another non-fan also really liked the film as did my father who is a fan of the series. Other fans that I have talked to, have really been kind of disappointed in the film especially I guess with the presentation of Spock. So have you seen the film and what did you think about it? | |
| | Star Trek got it wrong? | | There's an episode of the original Star Trek titled "The Empath". It's about an alien woman who is so sensitive to the feelings of others that she feels them as if they were her own.Recently I joined a forum "Aspies and their partners". I'm pretty sure I have mild Asperger's Syndrome and I was looking for something that would help me and my husband figure out how to communicate better. We don't just have the usual male vs. female communication issues but also, we are discovering, a lot of Aspie vs Neurotypical ("normal") communication issues.There were a couple of posts that were incredibly helpful in describing Aspie thought processes vs. neurotypical thought processes with people who are in a relationship and how they compensate for their differences.I had commented that my husband feels something is "off" when I respond logically when he expects an emotional response and that I understand his emotional responses intellectually but I don't "feel" them.So one neurotypical person left the comment that based on what her counselor had told her the other day, that I had empathy but not sympathy. But they weren't bad either.I really liked the story line. I liked getting the little "biographies" of the main characters. All around, I give it a thumbs up! Have you seen it yet?I have never considered myself a trekkie, but I did watch the show when I was growing up.I HATE those little slugs that they stick in people! I remembered that from one of the previous Star Trek movies. Yuk!What are your thoughts about the movie. Did you watch the show growing up.

| | Did you like the new Star trek movie? | | I used to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation (TV series). I have also watched a few movies of Star Trek. I loved watching them. Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes brent Spiner and other actors were amazing and looked professional on screen.
On the other hand the new Star Trek movie seemed like 'teen movie' actors made to act in Star Trek movie. I expected a lot more suspense, mystery and action but was left disappointed.[em]sad[/em]

| | any star wars, star trek, terminator lovers out there? can we interface | | mylotters, as i have said before i am a huuuge fan of science fiction. now in particular i would like to hear from anyone who is a fan of star wars, star trek and terminator. this is the extent of my fascination with these shows and movies:star wars, i am a fan of all the movies i do favor the original trilogy more though, i am impressed by the fact that they managed to do so much with so little and a really small budget, and those special effect without CGI. i am all about the star wars universe too. this universe encompasses the graphic novels, the tv show clone wars and the series of books. i have read about well 30 books and novels so far and counting.star trek oh where to begin, i love star trek, star trek voyager, the new generation, enterprise and deep space nine. i love them all and have watched them all, a friend and i watched the whole voyager series, 7 years worth of episodes over a period of 3 or so months it was awesome, every night was star trek night and we would watch like 5 - 7 episodes per day. the original series is pretty awesome too, gotta love those special effects. when it comes to the movies to be honest i still... | |
| | I became a Star Trek fan...how about you? | | Okay it all started last night when my sister started watching this movie and she told me what she's watching and yes, it's Star Trek. At first, I thought it's corny and lame (sorry!!) because of the effects and the actors' costume but...when my sister left, I kind of well, checked it out a bit with my other older sister (okay, I was using the PC but my other older sister insisted on watching it) so I clicked the play button and watched it with her. Again at first, I was "Ahh...okay, it's not bad" but there's one part there that really made me laugh (i'm not really sure if it's something to laugh at but i'm pretty weird) it's the part when one of the three guys died because he didn't release his parachute earlier and got himself burned.And yes, there's this also one part there was panicking because I thought the asian dude (I didn't hear his name clearly) was about to die when his parachute earned holes.And there are also other parts than make me go "Ewww" and "Ohh..."So to summarize everything, after watching it, I became a Star Trek Fan...damn (and my sister was laughing at me).Well, since I admit that i'm a fan of it,... | |
