The object of the game is to play all your tiles and have the lowest score at the end of the game. Your score is counted by the number of dots on the tiles remaining in your hand. The double blank counts fifty points if caught in your hand so it is usually played as soon as possible as the other players will be trying to block the play of it. The game begins with each player drawing an equal number of tiles from the "CHICKEN YARD". The number of tiles drawn may vary from twenty tiles each for two players to six tiles each for eight players. There are fifty five tiles in the set and there usually is a "CHICKEN YARD" which holds all the extra tiles to be drawn, only if you can't play from your hand. You may only draw one tile, either playing or passing. The player with the double nine in his hand plays first, placing the tile in the center piece, then move to the player to the left. The next six plays will be on the double nine, filling it in the notches around the center piece, forming a double "CHICKEN FOOT" as shown on the diagram. After this is done, you may play anywhere you like on one of the six "CHICKENTOES" until someone plays a double making a single "CHICKEN FOOT". The next three plays must be made on this "CHICKENFOOT" before anyone can play anywhere else. Then it is back to playing on any "CHICKENTOES" until someone plays another "CHICKENFOOT" When some one plays all their tiles or blocks the game ends, you count the dots on the remaining tiles in your hand and record the score. The tiles are reshuffled and the player holding the double eight plays first. The the next hand is started with the double seven, and continues down to the double blank ending the game. Or if you like, you may play back up to the double nine, If the double that is needed for a double "CHICKENFOOT" is in the "CHICKEN YARD" you may go to the next double or reshuffle all the tiles.
