INSTRUCTIONS
READ
TO ME
Before playing the game for the first time, read the following
introduction to the players.
Clifford's friend Emily Elizabeth has gone to visit her Aunt
and Uncle at their farm in the country. Clifford thinks about
Emily Elizabeth and tries to imagine what she's doing at the
farm. Is she catching frogs in a pond' Is she riding ponies'
Is she playing in the barn' Clifford wishes he knew.
Then all of a sudden, Clifford gets a terrific ideahe will
visit Emily Elizabeth at her Uncle's farm! He says good-bye to
his doghouse in the city and sets out for the country.
This is just the beginning of a wonderful adventure. Come along
with Clifford! Use the picture cards to help you make up little
parts of a great big story. If one of your picture cards shows
a delivery man carrying a huge pile of pizza boxes, what would
you say to add to Clifford's adventure'
You could say:
''Clifford tries to help the man carry the pizza.'
''Clifford balances the pizza on his nose, but it falls off his
nose and lands all over the people who ordered it.'
''The man trips and falls. Clifford helps him clean up by eating
all the pizza and licking the man clean.'
You decide what happens. It's your adventure story!
OBJECT
OF THE GAME
To create a story about Clifford's adventure from his dog house
in the city to a farm in the country.
SETTING UP
1. Open the game board.
2. Place the Clifford playing piece beside his doghouse.
3. Shuffle the cards. Give each player five picture cards. Place
the cards face up in front of each player. Put the rest of the
cards facedown near the game board.
PLAYING
THE GAME
1.
Begin the game with the youngest player, followed by players
to his or her left.
2. Choose one of your five picture cards to start Clifford's
adventure. Place the card face up on the space in front of Clifford's
dog house. Tell your part of the story. Move Clifford on top
of the card.
3. Draw a new card from the pile of cards near the game board.
Place the card face up in front of you. You should always have
five cards.
4. What you say to add to the story should have something to
do with where Clifford is located. For instance, if Clifford
is near the apple trees and you choose a picture of a bird's
nest, you could say, 'Clifford found a bird's nest lying near
the trees, and he puts it back up in one of the trees.'
5. Play continues with players taking turns adding to Clifford's
adventure as they move him closer to the farm.
ENDING
THE GAME
The
game is over when Clifford reaches the farm and finds Emily Elizabeth.
All the picture card spaces on the game board are now filled.
EXTENDING
THE GAME
A.
When Clifford reaches the farm, play a memory game using the
picture cards on the game board. Starting at Clifford's doghouse,
look at the trail of picture cards and try to retell the whole
story with as much detail as possible.
B. Clear the game board of picture cards and begin the game at
the farm in the country and have Clifford return home to his
dog house in the city.

CLUES WITH CLIFFORD
A question and answer guessing game with colorful picture
clue cards
This game is designed to encourage young children to verbalize
in an enjoyable situation. Players ask questions to guess person,
animal or object. To help the players, the child holding the
card has two picture clues to give, along with using sounds or
gestures. The excitement mounts as everyone gets into the action
by asking questions in order to discover just who or what is
hanging out with Clifford

Dear
Parents.
We at HARMONY Toy believe that positive, successful experiences
build your child's confidence and self-esteem. That's why we've
developed a new concept in our games - everyone's a winner. Through
the spirit of cooperative play, children work together to reach
a common goal. Because HARMONY TOY strives to bring you quality,
our games feature delightful and endearing characters from well-loved
children's books and programs.
You'll find that you can trust our games to be entertaining yet
purposeful and appropriate for your child. Many of the games
require no reading. This means that even very young children
can play our games on their own without adult supervision. But
we think you'll be playing right along with your childnot
because you'll have to. but because you'll want to!
We're especially proud to introduce ADVENTURES WITH CLIFFORD,
a storytelling board game recommended for children ages four
to seven years old. It's designed to stimulate young imaginations
and encourage the sharing of ideas. The colorful scenery of our
game board provides the background for an adventure story your
child will create as he or she 'travels' with Clifford from his
dog house in the city to visit a friend in the country.
ADVENTURES WITH CLIFFORD is never the same game twice. Each adventure
is as unique as the child who creates it. Through the use of
story picture cards, players make up a different adventure each
time. Some players may simply tell about what they see on each
of the game's picture cards, while other players may tell an
elaborate tale.
It is important to remember that each child will interpret the
picture cards differently, and therefore, tell the story of Clifford's
adventure differently. Much depends on the child's age, level
of participation, and imagination. Encourage your child to let
his or her imagination soar in creating Clifford's adventure.
